Your first three weeks!

You are now just over three weeks old.

We took you to the hospital last week for a checkup, and you have already put on 1 pound in two weeks. That's on top of gaining back the 10% of weight you lost after you were born, which you re-gained in the first week.

The doctor was very happy with you, the weight gain is great and is exactly what they want to see. You still have a small bump on the back of your head from labour and delivery, but it's getting smaller by the day and should be gone soon.

You are still a really hungry little thing, eating every three hours and you are now eating up to 6 ounces of formula at each feed. Although it balances out quite a bit, as during the night you take about half that, and drop back to sleep.

You've been having a little bit of trouble with some wind and so you've been a little grouchy about that, but a tummy massage and cycling your legs seems to help a lot. Other than that, you're a really happy little baby, and we're really lucky that you are so chilled and calm.

It's amazing how much more aware you've become in the last few weeks. You now make full eye contact with us, although we're not sure how clearly you can see us. You seem to be listening to our voices, and you are now happy to lie on your changing mat and state at the toys that are hung above it. You are much more awake when you feed now, and you've started gripping onto the bottle with both hands so I can't take it away from you.

Here are some photos that we've taken over the past three weeks, you're changing already so we want to  make sure we've made a full record of you growing up.

"Yes, can I help you?"

"Not the sponge, daddy!"

"Mmmmm head massage"
