We have less than 12 weeks left until we meet you. It's so amazing to realise that we've already done nearly 28 weeks waiting for you. Time just seems to be flying by now.
You'll learn pretty quickly that I'm a little over organised. I like to make sure things are done in advance and that everything is in it's place. I'm even more like that at the moment because I'm not working. So I have entire working weeks just to plan for your arrival.
So, other than actually giving birth to you, everything else is almost done. I've done my research and lots and lots of reading and my birth plan is drawn up and I know exactly how we want to give birth to you.
So then we start looking at what we want when you are born, once the delivery is over and we have you home and safe with us. How were going to try our best to be the parents you will deserve, and a million and one ways we are probably going to screw up trying to be great parents.
We wonder what you are going to look like, who you are going to be. Are you going to be serious and quiet, or outgoing and loud? Will you have my brown eyes or your dad's blue ones? I can't wait to meet you and see the blend of me and your dad, see how that mix looks in the real world.
I wonder what your hopes and dreams will be, what you will want from life, and how you will work to get it. The hardest part of becoming a mum is to try and make sure I don't push my dreams onto you, rather than letting you discover your own. I can already see it's going to be a difficult balancing act. It's my job to expose you to enough things that you can choose what you want, without forcing an option down your throat.
You won't know if you love to dance, unless you take lessons. You won't know if you love to ride horses unless you try. You won't know if you love to sing unless you do. But, these are the things I loved to do as a child, and I have no idea whether you will love them too.
Hopefully I can give you the opportunity to try all of these things and so many many more, so that you can make your decisions about what you want from life. The last thing I want is for you to be the most beautiful dancer, if you heart doesn't fly when you do it. I want you to be passionate about something, to love something so much that it sets your heart racing. Maybe it's going to be football like your dad, or rugby like your Grandad Ernie. Maybe you'll be destined to be a lawyer like Nanny Angie or a doctor like your Grandad Steve.
And maybe you'll like none of these things. Maybe you'll find something completely different to be passionate about. Something that does not come from any of us, something that is just yours. I hope whatever it is, it makes you happy.
xx
